MALAYSIA | Law Faculty of Universitas Malikussaleh Embarks on a Valuable Visiting Programme to the Federal Court of Negeri Sembilan, Seremban, Malaysia
In a remarkable endeavour to promote international collaboration and enrich the academic experiences of its students, the Faculty of Law at Universitas Malikussaleh (Unimal) embarked on a prestigious Visiting Programme to the Federal Court of Negeri Sembilan, Seremban, Malaysia.
The visit, which took place on October 24, 2023, brought together a distinguished delegation from Unimal and representatives of the Federal Court of Negeri Sembilan.
The delegation from Universitas Malikussaleh was led by Dr. Faisal, S.Ag., S.H., M.Hum (the Dean), along with Dr. Malahayati, S.H., LL.M., (Vice Dean for Academic Affairs), and Dr. Marlia Sastro, S.H., M.Hum, (Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance).
Joining the delegation were students from various levels of Law Faculty: Argya Areta representing undergraduate students, Rapikah Hasanah from the graduate program, and several esteemed alumni, including Ade Oscar, Yenny Sri Wahyuni, and Keumala Intan.
The delegation was warmly received by the Chief Justice of the Federal Court, distinguished judges of the court, experienced mediators, and court clerks. The programme featured a comprehensive itinerary, allowing participants to gain invaluable insights into the Malaysian legal system.
Activities during the visit included observing civil court proceedings, child custody hearings, and an in-depth exploration of the court’s mediation procedures. Participants also had the opportunity to engage in comparative discussions and learn about the distinctions between the Malaysian legal system and that of Indonesia, with a particular focus on Aceh.
Dr. Faisal, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Unimal, shared his thoughts on the experience, stating, “This visit is a testament to our commitment to fostering international academic cooperation and providing our students with a global perspective on the legal field. It has been a remarkable opportunity to witness the functioning of the Malaysian legal system.”
Ade Oscar, Law Faculty Alumni and Lawyer, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “As an Alumni and lawyer, this experience has been eye-opening. I’ve gained insights that will undoubtedly shape my understanding of the legal world. I’m very proud to be part of Faculty of Law in Universitas Malikussaleh and have opportunity to join this programme.”
The exchange programme not only provided an enriching experience for the students but also laid the foundation for potential future collaborations between Universitas Malikussaleh and the Federal Court of Negeri Sembilan.
The Faculty of Law remains dedicated to producing well-rounded legal professionals and nurturing a global outlook among its students, and this Visiting Programme is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
